Camden New Jersey, Special Services District Begins Operation
The Greater Camden Partnership services the 55 block area of the new business inmprovement district which was inaugurated on October 1, 2005. The district is defined by Delaware Avenue, the Benjamin Franklin Bridge, and Martin Luther King and Mickle Boulevards. The district includes Cooper University Hospital, Rutgers University, the Coriell Institute and a portion of store-lined Broadway. Additionally, the area borders on many downtown Camden attractions that include Campbell Field, the New Jersey State Aquarium, the Tweeter Center and the USS New Jersey.
Clean and Safe services are provided for the district by Service Group Inc. of Malvern, PA. The Clean Team includes six full time employees who will handle cleanup and light landscaping duties for the district. Mechanized sweeping equipment will be used. During the summer months, sidewalks will also be pressure washed by the crew. All Clean Team employees will be dressed in blue shirts.
The Safe Team will consist of five full time employees who will be known as Ambassadors. They will be of assistance to business owners and residents. They will also provide information on events and attractions to visitors. The Ambassadors will be attired in yellow.
